MyPendrivePRO - FAQ
What is MyPendrivePRO?
MyPendrivePRO has been developed to enable extended autorun functions for all
removable drives, especially for USB keys, Mp3 players, other memory supports like Compact flash, Memory sticks, etc..
What's new in MyPendrivePRO 3.0?
MyPendrivePRO 3.0 not only allows the fully automatic start of
portable applications and backup at drive connection, but now
comes with a lot of new and enhanced functions.
Now, MyPendrivePRO is able to perform all
following tasks automatically at drive connection, without the need of
user intervention:

with its associated program;

folders on the Pc and/or removable drives;

Plug-ins and additional components?
Yes, in this way users can add more functions to MyPendrivePRO; at the
moment is available MyPenSplashScreen
plug-in, that is able to display a logo or a picture automatically at drive connection, for a desired amount of time, with a nice fade-in/out effect.
Other plug-ins are under development.
Can I install MyPendrivePRO on other drives
different than USB removable drives?
MyPendrivePRO MUST be installed on removable drives, not on the hard disk.
The power of MyPendrivePRO resides in its installation on removable drives,
in this way you can always bring with you all its functions.
New DriveAutoStart function now allows MyPendrivePRO to be used on any type of removable drive (not only
USB, but also Firewire, S-ATA, SCSI, etc.).
Which is the difference between MyPendrivePRO
and DriveAutoStart?
MyPendrivePRO is the main application; it runs directly from your
removable drive.
DriveAutoStart is a little great program; if enabled, it resides on the PC
and periodically checks if you connect an external drive. If it detects a new
drive, it searches for MyPendriveRobot, then runs it.
Why DriveAutoStart is so important? Windows does not
offer automatic start-up for programs on removable drives?
Different versions of Windows (2000, XPsp1, XPsp2) offer different levels
of interaction when a new removable drive is detected. But no one allows
the automatic execution of a task without asking the user (except for
Cd-Rom drives).
MyPendrivePRO, with its DriveAutoStart function, offers a big workaround for these
limitations.

Can I change the look of MyPendrivePRO graphic
interface?
Yes, the look of MyPendrivePRO can be changed. See the on-line help about the way to do this.
Keep in mind that position and look of controls can not be modified at the
moment.
Does MyPendrivePRO run on every computer?
MyPendrivePRO runs on any PC with Windows 2000 or Windows XP, equipped
with at least one removable drive connected.
MyPendrivePRO uses the functionalities offered by Windows XP with Service Pack
2, can run also on other versions of Windows, but with some limitations.
In previous operating systems than Windows 2000 (Win95/98/ME), USB drives need additional drivers (user must always refer to
manufacturer's instructions). On these systems, MyPendrivePRO and DriveAutoStart have not been tested and we discourage everyone to do it.
Does MyPendrivePRO use big system resources?
No, it is cheap in ram and disk space usage.
Everything sounds great, but who develops MyPendrivePRO,
and why?
MyPendrivePRO is developed by Associazione Culturale Oltre l'immagine, an Italian no-profit
charity company that operates in re-education of people who had social diseases
(like drug, prostitution,
criminality), trying to re-insert these kind of people into the "normal working world".
We have two main re-education paths: one is the musical, teaching people to dance, sing, play music; the other
(and new one) is introducing them to software development.
We started MyPendrive project as a basis for teaching our members and volunteers
using authoring programs, because programming and developing a software (like
the theatre) implies planning, order, organization and task
self-management.
These qualities are also the basis of a "regular life" and what
our humanitarian mission tries to give to the members of our association.
